Wear Good for Haiti

Yesterday I was reading articles related to the ongoing efforts to provide aid to a still devastated Haiti.  Being half a world away, on my laptop, in a warm home, sitting on my comfortable sofa made it difficult to fathom the enormity of the need that still exists in order to simply provide the basics for such a large population of fellow humans. One article ( http://bit.ly/c0cH18 ) indicated that “aids groups were still scrambling Friday to provide for the 1.3 million people left homeless amid growing insecurity in Port-au-Prince.”  The massive number of homeless that this represents took on greater meaning when I began searching the population size of some fairly large cities in the US.  Imagine if nearly the whole city of Phoenix (pop. 1.5 mil) were homeless, searching for some semblance of life.  That is what is going on right now in Haiti.

In hopes that we can help make some impact on the great need that continues, Giving Tee is teaming up with Artists for Peace and Justice to raise funds that will go directly to boots on the ground efforts to rebuild and provide relief to those in need.

We are organizing ‘Wear Good for Haiti,’ a T-shirt design contest held on 99designs.com to benefit Haitian earthquake relief efforts. $10 from each T-shirt sold will be donated to the “Artists for Peace and Justice, Rebuild Haiti” initiatives.

Read details about the contest here.  Giving Tee hopes to sell 2000 T-shirts in order to donate $20,000 dollars to Artists for Peace and Justice.  Designers can participate and submit designs here.  The 4 winning designers will be awarded $300 dollars and a Yudu screen printing machine, retail value $300.

In addition to Giving Tee, the ‘Wear Good for Haiti’ T-shirt design contest is made possible by our awesome sponsors: Yudu, Skullcandy, emptees, ZenPrint, Costa Vida, and 99designs.

Please, Wear Good and help us help Haiti.

Thanks, Nathan

Haiti Still Needs Support

With the number of dead at 200,000 or roughly 2% of the total Haiti population (US equivalent us 6.1 mil.) and the number of injured totaling over 300,000, Haiti is still in a very bleak situation.  Years of rebuilding are ahead for a population that has been decimated, is severely under funded, drastically under-educated, and relatively unskilled.  As the media turns its attention away from the devastation and on to the next big story, we need to focus our efforts to reach out and make a difference.  Click here to learn how you can help organizations that are on the ground in Haiti working to improve, educate and comfort the people of this troubled nation.

Do Good…. Wear Good

The recent disasters in both Haiti and Chile, have opened my eyes to a greater degree regarding the plight of many of our fellow men and women upon this earth.  There is much to be done, and it can be accomplished without sacrificing our own comfort and capacity to make a difference. Together, let’s make doing good fashionable.  Do Good… Wear Good.
